The story, the filming techniques, the philosophy and much more.
Within this film a genuine hero/villain contrast is excellently established. The struggling Neo (Keanu Reeves) as he is faced with the revelations of The Matrix, and his capabilities there within. The formidable Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) who forces his way on screen with his calm demeanor, wall smashing strength & bullet dodging speed. Smith's presence demands attention & is accompanied by a genuine "Uh-oh" feeling when he appears. You only have to hear the term "Agent" to know that someone is about to start running. The Matrix is a film that has had a profound impact on me on many levels, and will always have a special place in my heart.
This force of nature of a film made its mark in the Sci-Fi world and in my opinion has stood the test of time almost two decades later, and will continue to do so for another two decades and beyond.
